Converting Your Audio Tracks

Okay, you don't have to use winLAME, you can use whatever encoder you want. The suggested settings are:

- VBR
- Joint Stereo
-if the original track was in stereo (2ch)
with a MAX bitrate of 96kbps
                            OR
- Mono
-if the original track was in mono (1ch)
with a MAX bitrate of 56kbps

This should be PLENTY for spoken word quality stuff like these commentaries.

Remember that some people are still working with 56k modems and they're going to want to download ALL of your tracks, so keep them at a managable size please.

I recommend that you use winLAME as an encoder because it's freeware, doesn't take up very much space on your hard drive and is very simple yet effective to use.

WinLAME available for download here.

So, go ahead and start up winLAME

Click on the "Open File" icon and select all your one big .wav track.
Then click "Next >>"

Select LAME mp3 Encoder as your output Module, and select where you want the files to go. Then click "Next >>"

For Stereo (2Ch) tracks: Select "Variable Bitrate" with a minimum of 64 and maximum of 96. Joint stereo and MPEG-1 44.1 kHz. Then go ahead and set the quality to Q0. Then click "Next >>"

For Mono (1Ch) tracks: Select "Variable Bitrate" with a minimum of 48 and maximum of 56. Joint stereo and MPEG-1 44.1 kHz. Then go ahead and set the quality to Q0. Then click "Next >>"

In the next window you'll start the encoding and then you just wait. See, wasn't that easy!

Okay, now you've got to split that puppy up into chapters.
